Turkish Canadians gather to speak out against human rights violations in Turkey
Ottawa, ON, June 2, 2013 - Turkish Canadians and friends of Turks gather to support the Gezi Park protesters and speak out against the human rights violations in Turkey on Sunday June 2nd, 2013 at the Parliament Hill.
A few days ago, peaceful Turkish citizens gathered in a much cherished park in the center of Istanbul, one of the last remaining green refuges in the area. The construction crews started demolition and tree removal operations to replace the park with a regeneration project including a shopping mall. A court order has since declared the construction illegal.
